वृन्दा की कथा तथा अनेक देवों एवं तीर्थों के माहात्म्स का वर्णन है। इस खण्ड का प्रारम्भ नारद-महादेव के मध्य बद्रिकाश्रम एवं नारायण की महिमा के संवाद के साथ होता है। इसके पश्चात गंगावतरण की कथा, हरिद्वार का माहात्म्य; प्रयाग, काशी एवं गया आदि तीर्थों का वर्णन है।’पद्म पुराण’ की रचना बारहवीं शताब्दी के बाद की मानी जाती है। इस पुराण में नन्दी धेनु उपाख्यान, बलि-वामन आख्यान, तुलाधार की कथा आदि द्वारा सत्य की महिमा का प्रतिपादन किया गया है। तुलाधार कथा से पतिव्रत धर्म की शक्ति का पता चलता है।, इन उपाख्यानों द्वारा पुराणकार ने यही सिद्ध करने का प्रयत्न किया है कि सत्य का पालन करते हुए सादा जीवन जीना सभी कर्मकाण्डों और धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों से बढ़कर है। सदाचारियों को ही ‘देवता’ और दुराचारियों तथा पाश्विक वृत्तियां धारण करने वाले को ‘राक्षस’ कहा जाता है। पूजा जाति की नहीं, गुणों की होनी चाहिए। धर्म विरोधी प्रवृत्तियों के निराकरण के लिए प्रभु कीर्तन बहुत सहायक होता है।, इस खण्ड में पुरुषों के कल्याण का सुलभ उपाय धर्म आदि की विवेचन तथा निषिद्ध तत्वों का उल्लेख किया गया है। पाताल खण्ड
